Announcing the third LP and the fifth recording of Sincarnate, following the last LP "In Nomine Homini" launched in 2017, "Praise to a Dying Sun" is a song that brings back memories from the past, when the doom-death influences played a major role in the band history (like on the first recording, "On the Procrustean Bed" from 2007). Depressing at its core, the song is enhanced by short furibunde passages which add to the oppressing general atmosphere which characterises Sincarnate's new approach, to be expected on the new record. Lyrically the song approaches the inevitable end of the Sun, and consequently, the end of life. On a second note, the use of an homophone within the title obscures the real, more devastating tragedy the song is really about.
lyrics
I cannot give up – I found my own sun, grossly incandescent,
Beyond the twilight dawn, a stranger amidst strangers.
Sun of mine, why won’t you fade? Sun of mine, leave me be
In darkness. I’m darkness.
My sun, I’ve come from afar. My life is a scar.
Hollowed inside, I am your death, my sun.
I’m darkness. In darkness.
We are among strange beings in a strange land.
The flow of time is convoluted. Worlds fazing in and out.
Our very existence wavers. I bow to you – in darkness.

The first 30 seconds of "Revenge by Fire" convinced me to get the whole album! It is a face-melting blend of speed and black metal, reminiscent of Hellripper! KVAEN is a Swedish solo project much like Hellripper but many known guest musicians helped J. Björnfot in his endeavor. Altogether it is really a solid debut album, I loved the melodies and the pace changes in the second half too, ending with a "calm" instrumental one. Well-done!! sachavonkarl74
